What brought you solace as a teenager?
Why do books and poetry provide me with solace? Growing up I
was never fond of books. I couldn’t comprehend how individuals spent their time-consuming
piles of words and utilizing it as their source of entertainment. Whereas I
occupied my free time playing video games.
Until one day, I got my hands on “The picture of Dorian
Gray” by Oscar Wilde. It was a suggestion by one of my friends. Oscar Wilde
really seemed to capture the very essence of my soul with his choice of phrases,
and I was bound to dig deeper into the entity of poetry and hard covered books.
Obsessing over “Oscar Wilde” and “Lancali” quotes shaped my daily schedule.
I always find myself
departing from the real world into unknown horizons when I read. Those hours of
flipping through hundreds of pages became an utmost joy to me as I found
comfort in it. I can gladly embrace the fact that coffee and hard covered books
have helped me ride the grueling threads of my voyage as a young teenager.
Being absorbed by fictional characters and captivating worlds as I embark on my
adventures. All of it, letting me carry sweet memories.
I do have some special desires while reading which includes curating
a different song playlist only for that book. Each book I read has a different
playlist uniquely made for it. As every book has a distinguished feeling and
meaning to it which makes the reading journey more enjoyable. I have huge
bookshelves in my room which keeps me accompanied despite all the loneliness
this world is encircled by. I also love lighting scented candles to set the
ambience while I enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with biscuits.
Being a book worm also means spending lots of money on hard
covered books. Your mind becomes uncontrollable while you are faced with books
with pretty covers. Library can proudly state the fact of conquering all my
expenses. Books is to me what phone is to people. That sentence explains it
all.
Some of my most favorite books are ‘Little women’,
‘Wuthering Heights, ‘I fell in love with hope’’, ‘Your name’, ‘The diary of a
young girl’’, ‘Little house on the prairies’ and of course. ‘The picture of
Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde my idol.
I would like to enclose my short blog. I hope you achieved
the inspiration of giving poetry or books a chance to conquer your soul. Now tell
me, have I convinced you to give it a go?
