Happiness :can be happy in every situation

I want to talk about an overview of an example learned in our childhood. And that is, the comparison between a farmer and a king from the perspective of happiness.

We were originally taught that one can be happy as a farmer whereas a king might be unhappy even though he is a king and has all his needs met. The underlying teaching was that it was a matter of our perspective of life that helps us in being happy in life or punishes us with unhappiness.

Today, I saw a rickshaw puller pulling his rickshaw while singing at the topmost of his voice. This incident made me think of that particular lesson from childhood.

Is it really that simple of a case of perspective in terms of happiness??
A king has to maintain all that is inside his kingdom. He has to take care of himself, his family, as well as his people. He has to look out for his kingdom in terms of development, protection and nourishment. He has to deal with severally critical issues every single day from day to night. He has to remain active constantly throughout his whole life until the responsibility of the kingdom is passed down to someone else from the bloodline.

On the other hand, a farmer or any other person of the same category has the responsibility of his family only. If he can earn as much needed and provide for them, then he is all set. He doesn't have to care to the whole kingdom, nor about it's people. He can go sleep at night without a care of the kingdom.
I know there are many variables that cannot be measured in both of their lives. But, if we look from this point of view, there are all sorts of reason for a king to become anxious, stressed or unhappy. It is actually a matter of how much responsibility one has to bear. If someone remains ignorant and carefree of the world, it becomes easier to be happy. On the contrary, when entrusted with the responsibility of people's lives and a whole kingdom, it is not much of a carefree-situation.

This is just my opinion on that teaching from earlier. This sudden thought or philosophy that came in my mind really had me thinking for quite a while and question our understanding of things and reality. I hope, I can learn and understand the true reality that this world envelopes.
